MSOKC Board Of Directors Meeting Minutes
February 13, 2003
As submitted by Secretary Jim Conlin

Meeting came to order at 7:05 pm at INFONETICS conference room, Grove City, OH. Present were Steve Tatman, Jim Conlin, Mike Dillon, Erin Dillon, Mike Boyd, Mike Yoerger, Tom Hickey.

Steve led off with a report that Russell Kart Specialties is on board with the same banquet sponsorship for 2003 - will donate one set of tires for each class to be given away at the banquet.

Steve had researched Dunlop SL4 tires and found that T & S Racing is again offering the best volume pricing to the club. The club can provide these tires to its members at the following prices:

4.50 - $30
5.50 - $35
6.00 - $38
7.10 - $40

The board wishes to emphasize that the prices are all inclusive and no additional or hidden charges apply. The club buying in quantity should provide our racers with the best possible pricing for tires.

Steve made the BoD aware that CRP has laid concrete in the access lanes in the pits. CRP will be selling reserved pit spots for the 2003 season. See www.bright.net/~crp for details.

Steve has also constructed lightweight easy-to assemble backdrops available for promotional events. Karters interested in using them in a promo event should contact Steve.

Jim voiced his concerns that the film Kart Racer may not be coming out in March after all. Although the trailer is still available for viewing and download at the Alliance Atlantis website, there is no mention of it on the section about soon to be released films.

Mike Boyd spoke to the manager of the Marcus theaters in Pickerington about a promo tie-in if Kart Racer is released. The manager was enthusiastic. Jim got a similar response from the theater manager in Hilliard. That manager said they don't know until a week or two in advance what movies they will be showing.

Steve reported that Scott Thompson and Craig Reed would be manning a karting display at the River Valley Mall in Lancaster (?) soon.

Erin Dillon mentioned that son Sean was busy talking to people about karting at the World Of Wheels show the previous weekend. Sean was working Mike Long's Sound Impressions booth, which had a kart on display. Erin pointed to this as proof the promos work.

Jim reported that he has received an invite to speak about karting to the Hilliard 4H club in April.

Mike Dillon has agreed to research best prices for the Rookie Box stock engine package: Raptor 3, Noran clutch, pipe, silencer, purple plate, wire sealed if possible.

Steve will research pricing on large vinyl on or two color MSOKC decals to be available to BoD members and any other member. He will also research pricing for MSOKC T-Shirts for sale.

Erin submitted an Excel format schedule of Oval and Pro Race pay back based on 75% of $35 entry fees. Pay back to a maximum of 6 places. First place awards range from $65 for minimum 5-kart race to $354 for a 30-kart race.

The board had a chance to comment on the proposed 2003 GCRs, which had been email to each in advance of the meeting. Discussion of rain conditions wording, clarified. Agreed that MSOKC 80cc shifter rules would follow SKUSA rulebook.

Steve questioned whether we should follow WKA's weight increase on the Senior Briggs Medium and Super Heavy. The BoD felt that our racers would not benefit by the increase and voted to keep our weights the same as last year.

Erin submitted the club's Income Statement. Cash and other assets are at $1600+. Erin will be sending out Membership Packets in the next week, which will provide the first wave of revenue for 2003.

The BoD reluctantly accepted Mike Dillon's resignation as Secretary. Mike said he wanted to stay active on the Board but time restraints were forcing him to step down. Jim suggested he and Mike exchange positions. Mike liked the idea and the BoD agreed. Mike Dillon takes the office of Vice President and Jim Conlin takes the office of Secretary.

Meeting adjourned at 8:45pm.
