May '05 Reports

29 May - SHE ALMOST DID IT!
Our congratulations to Danica Patrick in overcoming a pit stop stall, a wheel banging incident at 200+ mph and a restart spin to nearly win the Indianapolis 500. We knew you could do it, we're proud of you and thanks for proving once again that for a real racer it is all about determination. Well done, girl!!!
22 May - Not Our Finest Hour
Even with a kart possessed by evil spirits, Tracy was able to hang on for a win. But the rain took it off the books.
And an hour was about all there was to the May 22 race since rain moved in just after both ladies completed their first heats. Driving karts that, in the final analysis, were possessed by evil spirits, both Tracy and Dana just barely hung on for good finishes. In fact Tracy won her heat but she had a pile of karts right behind her looking for a way around. John Fox was right behind her and a little faster but not enough to make a pass stick. Frustration must have been great among the 11 karts behind them.
Dana led with her demonic kart for a couple laps until Len Bailey found a way by. Then she had Jim Martin, Jason Stukey and Chris Tatman stacked up behind her. Her evil handling kart contributed to a scattering of those karts on the exit of Turn One when she had to check up as she understeered out of road. She managed to stay in second but it wasn't pretty.
The arrival of the rain may have put us out of our misery had we not found what we thought was the cause of the lack of grip at the front of the karts. As it was, we were anxious to get out again and redeem ourselves and get back on pace. But the track got wet and stayed wet the rest of the day. MSOKC doesn't race in the rain to save our members the abuse the wet does to the karts so the entire day was rescheduled for October 2. Unfortunately, that means Tracy's first win of the year and fourth of her career does not count. But, that is racing. More...
19 May - Revised Where & When Of Conlin SpeedSports For 2005
Adjustments have been made to the team schedule as the result of the family health issues that precluded us from the opening Midwest Sprint Series race. "Nana" seems to be be fully on the road to recovery and we're looking forward to concentrating on the Mid State Ohio Kart Club Championship once again. We will look toward 2006 to do a full divisional & National championship schedule. We are also making plans to add one more big event to our 2005 schedule. We hope to be able to officially announce our intentions within a few weeks.

15 May - NKN Feature: Dana Going Through LSJF DDP
We've posted the article detailing Dana's participation in the Lyn St. James Foundation Driver Development Program as featured in the April National Kart News. If you couldn't find a copy of the April NKN at your local kart dealer then ask them why not? Right after you check out the article here.
13 May - Our Engines Silent For A Second Weekend
What with my mother suffering from a sodium imbalance and anxiety we've canceled plans to compete in the Midwest Sprint Series season opening race at New Castle Motorsports Park in order to be available for her needs. In light of that we are abandoning the entire Midwest Sprint Series as we will be unable to accumulate significant points for the championship in the remaining races. Our apologies to friends and family that had planned activities around these races.
07 May - We Have To Sit One Out
Due to a grandmother's illness and our need to assist her through it, we were unable to prepare our equipment for the May 7 MSOKC race at Circleville Raceway Park. Our apologies to anyone that had come out to support us and found us a no-show. Weather looked excellent and we're hoping all our fellow MSOKC karters had a successful day of racing.
