06 March - Chassis Setup 101 Seminar A Success
Chassis Setup 101, a seminar designed to help local karters understand how their racing karts work and how to make them go faster was a unqualified success. Teaming up with Mike Unger, we had 24 racers enroll to learn the basics on alignment, scaling, kart dynamics and how to tune at the track. Mike, an engineer and driver training instructor by profession in Marysville was perfectly suited for designing and leading the class. Conlin SpeedSports with our web presence, electronic tools and penchant (obsession?) for organization was a natural for handling the logistics. And our built-in staff was able to handle all the backstage and check-in stuff allowing Mike to concentrate on the classroom.
Hard work had Dana turn our best lap of the week.
We had the support of National Kart News and MSOKC. Member and fellow Board member Bob Strawser arranged for us to use the Circleville Fire Departement Community Center for the class which turned out to be a much nicer facility than we expected. Bob also provided us with electronic scales and a stand-up (on end) kart stand to make Mike's ICC easier for everyone to see as components were pointed out and explained. INFONETICS loaned us a fancy projector to get Mike's powerpoint up on the big screen for everyone to see it.

Mid State Ohio Kart Club is experiencing rapid growth and welcoming many new kart racers. Making a kart work properly is not an intuitive excersize and we may find that another seminar is in order once the season is underway. Watch this space.
