January & February 2002 Reports

17 February - Rule Changes To Our Favor?
The rule change specifying Dunlop SL4 compound tires in MSOKC events for 2002 looks to be an advantage for Conlin SpeedSports - at least early in the season. Having run the previous two years on the SL4s, the team will have prior test and race data to rely on whereas other teams will likely have to come to grips (no pun intended) with the new characteristics of the unfamiliar rubber. The club voted to specify a tire to control costs and to reduce wear and tear on the Circleville Raceway Park asphalt.
02 February - Dana To Compete in MSOKC Races
Conlin SpeedSports will field Dana as its main driver for the 2002 MSOKC season. She'll contend the 10 race Briggs Stock Medium championship in the team's 1996 Margay Syncro powered by McCall Motorsports engines. Jim will compete in selected Ohio Sprint Series and street races. A slimmer budget for 2002 as well as the team's desire to focus all its energies on one successful campaign are sited for the change.
20 January - Duty Calls
Having hidden himself from club politics since moving to Ohio in 1992, Jim finally succumbed to the call of duty again (previously with the Sports Car Club of America). Wanting to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem, he threw his hat into the ring for the Mid State of Ohio Kart Club Board of Directors. He'll hold the office of Vice-president and chair the publicity committee for 2002.
