Right On Schedule

Body work in place but yet unpainted
Things are moving right along at Conlin SpeedSports. The engines are at Butch McCall's shop in Grove City in the process of being rebuilt. There is some talk of them spending a little more time on the dyno to see if a little more grunt is to be had. Supplies have been trickling in to support the effort. Tires are waiting to be mounted (oh boy, my favorite job) and modifications have been made to the trailer to make things a little more organized at the track and along the way there.
The bodywork has all been hung and is waiting for paint. We'll probably hold off on the paint job until the last minute in case a title sponsor comes along and dictates a color scheme for us. If not, we'll be sporting the same colors as last year: the royal blue/light blue/white and gold combination. You may remember that we chose those as the team colors in honor and remembrance of Greg Moore, a favorite of ours, who died about the time our racing team was just forming up.
We're hoping to get the kart out for some shake down runs before the end of the month to see what falls off. Once those things are reattached, we'll get down to some serious testing. We may have to go to G & J Kartway in Western Ohio to do our testing though. Popular opinion has it that Circleville will not have new asphalt in place in time for the first race April 1.
Our first race will be the April 8th event provided the track is ready. We plan to run 11 or 12 of the Mid State of Ohio Kart Club races at Circleville and depending on the degree of support we get from sponsors hope to run four street races: Minster, Buckland, Wapakoneta, Ohio and Connersville, IN. And for the right sponsor we may find ourselves doing some local event support a couple times a month.
Meanwhile, Dana's kart at McCall Motorsports is coming together too. Freshly painted black, some of the important bits are starting to find their places. And Butch has added some very slick and very trick special features to the chassis that I don't believe I am at liberty to describe.
Look for another update towards the end of the month as we get set to go racing!
