New look for 2001

Mock up preview of new body work Mock up preview of new body work

New bodywork is only one of the new looks for Conlin SpeedSports
Conlin SpeedSports will be returning for it's second year of karting competition with a new on-line design, a new on-track look, a new driver line-up and a new challenge each raceday.
ConlinSS.com revamped
We've implemented frames and some new tricks for our web-site that will offer visitors like you better navigation and generally make it easier to find what you're looking for. There is also a frame across the top of the site reserved for the sponsors we hope to have soon. Their message will appear up there as visitors move from page to page giving our sponsors the most value for their advertising dollar. In seeking additional funding for the 2001 budget, I feel we genuinely have a package that is appealing to almost any business. Our equipment is always attractive and professional in appearence, our team always conducts itself in a sportsmanlike manner and having learned well from our first year of karting, will be a competitive force this year. And that there are three attractive young women seriously involved in the racing effort won't hurt in drawing the attention of local print and electronic media.
Full bodied approach
We'll be hanging new full body work on our kart for 2001. Besides just the fresh, different look, it will also make our effort more marketable to sponsors giving us much more "white space" for an exclusive "title" sponsor or plenty of room for multiple associate supporters. The full body also acts as "fenders" and offers additional protection from the dangers wheel to wheel contact. This should allow us to be a little more aggressive in tight racing.
Expanded driver line-up
Encouraged by her notable debut last August, Dana will be joining regular competition this season. She'll be served well by her sheer speed that she's demonstrated in practice and last year's race in the rain but she will have to learn fast regarding race-craft and the subtleties of racing in close quarters. It will be interesting to watch her progress in her first year of real motor racing.
New, rigorous race day routine
Dana will be racing in Briggs Medium, the class I ran last year. I'll be moving up to the Briggs Heavy class. About 35 pounds of weight has to be added to the kart to accommodate this plan but will put us both right near the minimums for each class. Running the same kart in two classes will be a challenge. Instead of an hour to an hour and a half between races, we may have as little as 20 minutes to turn the kart around for its next race. As a matter of fact, we have had racing friends tell us it can't be done. Well, that's all the incentive we need. So this season we'll have to not only work as a racing team but also as a bon-fide pit crew pouring over the kart as soon as it comes off the track, getting it refueled and ready for the next session. Should be interesting, Should be fun.
