The Saturday racing schedule, as it turned out, had practice starting at noon and racing beginning at 4:00 in the afternoon. This would have heats and certainly the feature running into mid evening. But having made a substantial investment in tickets for "Eric Idle Exploits Monty Python" at the Ohio Theater we opted out of the racing on Saturday and looked forward to just running on Sunday. Having been a Python fan (as many of you know - nudge, nudge-grin, grin-wink, wink) since the mid 70s, this was a chance to see one of the most influential people of my teen years in the flesh. So off we went to the Ohio and had a bloody good time.
Saturday evening turned out to be a great day for racing and Sunday turned out to be a disaster. With rain forecasted for the entire day, racers were greeted with thunderstorms shortly after the track opened and water was standing on and teeming across the track shortly thereafter. The Mid State Ohio Kart Club racers are willing to bolt on rain tires and race in the rain but these extreme conditions were just too much and the organizers called it at about 10:00am. The event was rescheduled for July 16.

We did, however, meet up with our engine builder, Kevin Picklesimer who made a special trip up from Cincy to deliver our latest Pic Power engine. There's been little left to do on this one in the way of speed secrets so we're looking forward to the July 9 race. Combined with the recently mounted (hand mounting little tiny tires - now that's an experience) new Dunlops we hope to be inching our way towards the front of the Briggs Stock Medium class. We'll know in three weeks. Stay tuned.
